From cnn.com:

Quote
Mitt Romney ended his presidential run Thursday, telling a conservative audience that continuing the race against rival John McCain would make it more likely Democrats would win the White House — and “in this time of war, I simply cannot let my campaign be a part of aiding a surrender to terror.”

So... I guess this means that
1.  A Democrat winning the White House is equivalent to the "terrorists winning"
2.  To prove how motherfucking conservative he is, Mitt Romney is willing to sacrifice his white house bid

Seeing as how we're still it the primaries, it doesn't make any sense to me, either.  I just think he knows he's going to lose and doesn't feel like wasting time and money on a fruitless campaign.  It's definitely the "go out in a blaze of conservative glory" approach to a resignation.

Wasn't much of a "blaze of glory"

Well McCain has more then 60% of the delegates he needs to cinch the nomination, and Huckabee is right behind Romney in delegate counts anyways (and is stealing his conservative votes as well)

Well that's good - if I had to choose between McCain and Romney, I'd rather have McCain.

McCain v. Obama would be an interesting race

I agree with you that it would be an interesting race.  McCain, though he has done his fair of douchebaggery as far as the war is concerned, is the most tolerable of the conservatives.  I don't think that the Republicans have a very good chance in the fall, though.

Then again, the election is still 8 months away, so you never know.

if Clinton is the nominee, the GOP will have all sorts of an opportunity to win, a lot of people HATE her and will vote against her no matter who it is

True... she'll bring out more of a "vote against" crowd than Obama.
I don't like any of these muthafuckas... I'll probably "waste" my vote on a 3rd party candidate as usual.

Ron Paul might absorb some of his votes as well, which would be nice.  Maybe Romney's fascist comments will backfire and the republicans who actually want to pull out of Iraq will show their true colors and vote for Ron Paul.

Huckabee is definitely the right wing religious nutjob to be scared of in the Republican party.

I wouldn't be surprised if McCain gave him the nod to be VP
