I may check these out. I am almost halfway through Dance With Dragons and will need new reading material soon...that is beside the Dance With Dragons thread I have had to avoid for a long ass time.

I could never get into Star Trek, but I'd be down with an evening of Catan.

Nick, was it you the other day that told me you were reading Illium?
Yep that was me.. almost 300 pages through Ilium now, it got easier to read after the first 100 pages or so. Paco here are the books we are talking about - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ilium_%28novel%29and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Olympos_%28novel%29Don't worry, the wiki articles don't ruin the plot.

Yeah Illium gets better once you have a clearer idea of what is going on. The book of the new sun is the hardest book I ever had to read. But it's worth it if you can stick through the whole thing and read Urth of the new sun.(important if you want to have any clue as to what the fuck you just read in the previous books) It also leads into the book of the long sun and short sun series which are pretty good. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Book_of_the_New_SunIf you like george martin, but want to increase the characters by 10 and include way more magic and gods and a little more kickass then I'd recommend the following also. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Malazan_Book_of_the_FallenIf you want something a little less complex, gritty and fun then try. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heroes_DieAnd if you want to read somethign that doesn't involve people stabbing people with swords try this. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Imajicaand if you are new to sci-fi check out my favorite book of all time. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ender's_Game

Bull, did you read Caine Black Knife yet (nothing to say about it really, just asking)?
Also, I though you might like the story in Warriors about the dogs, because of that song you wrote.

I did read it, it was pretty good but I don't think it was on par with the first two. Plus it was really short. I haven't read much out of warriors other than the George R.R Martin hedgeknight stuff. If I every go someplace in the future that I know you'll be at I'll try to bring them along.

I agree - but if we play the Star Trek one, I'm gonna miss asking "Who's Got Papes?!? Papes, bitch!"

Bingo is open to the public btw, it's .25 cents per card per game. Proceeds go to the verona fire station. Oh and don't forget about the 1.75 yuengling drafts.

I have a kegerator with a darn near full keg of Yuengling and the Steelers aren't playing in the game, so we are staying home - anyone who wants to come over is more than welcome.

The chapter where Savi, Daeman and Harman first encounter Caliban is creepy / awesome

Yeah Caliban makes a pretty excellent villian, reminded me of when I was a kid and first read about Gollum and how evil I thought he was.

I've only read the first one. It's one of my favorite books, and I was afraid if I read the rest that I would either be let down or no longer feel the first one was as important and not like it as much. lol.
