So, I checked the box for "Will Call", but they mailed me a ticket anyway. What's up with that!
Yeah I got mine in the mail yesterday.  I guess the three of us will just get loaded at BP and then show up somewhere afterward and annoy the shit out of everyone else.

Well it will be the Jon, Ponce, myself and Kat... and Greg (or if he chooses not to go, whoever takes his place and drives us Smiley )

So how was this? I went to the Zoo Brew Saturday, the beer selection was not the greatest and some of the lines were insane. But when you add in the cost of the zoo and the fact that they had a ton of food and drink booths (pizza, chinese, pop, water) and a bunch of live bands 40 skins wasn't that much. I was a little disturbing to see smirnoff ice there though.

It isn't until Sept. 12th.

That sounds cool.  Except for the lines and Smirnoff Ice.  Ugg.

There was a Beer Fest in Millvale on Saturday though - http://www.millvalepa.com/BrewFest.aspx A bunch of folks at the TBird for Omega Love on Saturday had just been at that.

The way it was explained to me, no.  It's a fundraiser they put on.  You pay the fee, get a glass, eat, drink and be merry.  I should be getting more details soon.

Interesting... Is it more of a local brewers competition? Thats what it sounds like

Back to the the subject - is anyone (besides Gregor, Ponce, Jon, Kat and I) going to the Big Pour? You can find tickets here but the prices don't seem to be too generous - http://pittsburgh.craigslist.org/search/tix?query=big+pour&catAbbreviation=tix&minAsk=min&maxAsk=max

Yeah.. I can't afford the big pour- but that rugby fest might be interesting, especially considering I haven't been to a brew fest this year.

It's kinda sad that our fair city is so short on decent brew fests that tickets to the Big Pour are such a commodity.

Yeah....
I wonder if/how many people bought extra tickets just to try and sell them for some sort of profit.

Could you imagine the insurance coverage they would need for that event if they had people drink a ton of beer and then play rugby?

I could see buying them and then selling them $55 or $60 or so but those people asking for $100 are ridiculous, especially as in most of these cases, they were comped tickets. I dunno that I would even pay above what they are now to go to this, but that's just me - I like craft beer, but not enough to spend $100 to taste it for 3 hours.

Nah... I also don't know that I'd pay any more than what I've payed either.  If they raise the price again next year (which based on demand, I'm sure they could), I may have to decline.

Shit, for that much coin, we could pool all our money ($50 * 20 people = $1000) and buy a bunch of different cases of really good quality microbrew and get some nice catering and do our own "Big Pour".

True, but it wouldn't be as artsy and hipster as doing it at Construction Junction

All joking aside I would be down for something like this in the future - get a certain amount of people involved, find out what beers everyone wants to try, this could be really good or really bad.

Pay attention dude, it's a reference to that blog in the other topic.

"The Downtown Cultural District is home to terrific live music and other performances attended by people who otherwise wouldn't otherwise dare to set foot in the City.

Other up and coming neighborhood arts districts along Butler Street in Lawrenceville and Penn Avenue in Garfield-Friendship, smell vaguely of patchouli, but are worth a visit if you want to get mugged while watching women with phalluses glued to their foreheads mud wrestle.

Also along Penn Avenue is the Pittsburgh Glass Center, which if you break, you buy."

In that case, I know a song by the Guess Who that would be a perfect theme song for that place!

Didn't we see someone wearing some bacon pants @ the Big Pour?
Unfortunely, I don't think I have an extra $30 to attend this.  And I'm sure my arteries are glad, but I'm curious about bacon wings.
