I suppose we should all try and enjoy football a little more when fall rolls around... We may have to do without in 2011.

http://www.pittsburghlive.com/x/pittsburghtrib/news/breaking/s_665702.html

Of all the stupid shit that congress investigates when it comes to sports, there is one thing about this situation that seems to me to be total bullshit. (Not saying it calls for a congressional inquiry though, just that it seems real fucked up)...
Quote
Smith said owners are preparing for a lockout by negotiating TV contracts that pay them in 2011 even if there are no games because of a labor standoff.

I don't know what's up with these networks, but I don't see how they can agree to contracts where they pay to NOT show football.

Took a drive around town. The roads in verona are bd but everywhere else seems to suck. Allegheny river blvd is closed. Washington Blvd. and Freeport rd. were bth a mess that looked like they weren't plowed at all.  i really dont' get how a road can have 4 inches of compacted snow on it. I mean it hasn't snowed in a day and a half. I guess it's to hard and compacted to plow now.

On my way in to work this morning, Liberty Avenue in the Strip still is covered in snow.  There were cars spinning out on it, and of course my work is open today.  Is anyone else working?

Yeah, I drove through that shit on Liberty. What a fucking mess. Only to get to Chateau, where there are reverse potholes. They must have tried to plow over the 4" of compact snow and only broken half of it up.

I should be at work... but my car won't start.
This time I'm almost certain it is the battery...

Though I am currently doing some work remotely.

I finally made it into work.  Ivory Ave was completely backed up, I guess a tow truck was trying to pull someone out that was stuck.  I feel bad, Sean had to drive to the airport at 5:30 this morning.

I left a half hour early and got here about 15 minutes early. But I took a test run yesterday so I knew what roads to avoid. This is going to be awesome when we get 6 more inches and ice on top of this tomorrow night.

Ponce hasn't made it to work Paco. he apparantly can't start his car and of course he doesn't own jumper cables.

Freeport road is basically 4'' of compact snow and ice with ruts that just take your car wherever they want you to go.

I know I just wanted to point out that he doesn't own jumper cables. Which I think is outrageous. How do you not own jumper cables?

Working from home today (not because of conditions, just boatloads of traffic) it took me an hour and a half to get from Balph to the middle of the Fort Duquesne Bridge - at which point I turned around. Looking like I'll be working from home Wednesday and maybe even tomorrow (that shit is supposed to start early). Also, I'm sure the residents of Squirrel Hill will be more than happy to give up all their shoveled out spots to commuters, so I'm glad I'm not dealing with that today.

Maybe we should start a 'Blizzard of 2010' topic so that we can talk about how Peyton Manning threw the worst Super Bowl interception since Neil O'Donnell, and how Plaxico Burress wears white dress shirts in prison.

"Brees broke New England quarterback Tom Brady's record of 32 completions set in Super Bowl XXXVIII and was named the game's most valuable player."

Good to see that another douche quarterback was taken down a peg last night too.

I ended up getting a jump from the Godmobile.... It ran all right to Pep-Boys.  Just waiting for them to call when the battery is replaced.

Hey, was it me, or did the Who sound like shit last night?  I mean, the music was good, but the vocals were pretty bad.

He's like 65 or something, think he had trouble with the high notes. I thought the guitar sounded weird after a while in. Like something was missing.

Daltry definitely can't scream like he used to, and I agree with the guitar comment.  It kind of seemed like they didn't know what the fuck was going on after a while.

The singing might have been live, but everything else is always pre-recorded for the halftime shows.

Hmm do you mean they're up there not plugged in? That would explain a lot.

It did sound like shit though. Singing and all
