and of course PFT (whihc, for those who don't know is basically the TMZ for football) is all over this as well - http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/03/05/sexual-assault-victim-released-from-hospital/

There are some entertaining comments posted after the story- some people really hate Ben Roethlisberger (I'm thinking they're from Cleveland).

That one moron who said the Browns have more "championships" than the Steelers, give me a fucking break dude.

And they were all like, omg yeah, he did it, he's a rapist definitely, no doubt about it lock him up cut off his dick he's guilty, he also raped that other chick who wasn't even trying to extort money out of him and wasn't an insane person at all, nor was she being manipulated by her attorneys.  So there's no way that some other chick could do the same thing, it's impossible that these gold digging sluts think they can scam large ben when he's drunk in rural fucking georgia, (WTF WAS HE DOING THERE ANYWAY http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=Milledgeville,+Georgia&sll=40.743095,-73.965111&sspn=0.11263,0.220757&g=New+York,+NY&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=Milledgeville,+Baldwin,+Georgia&ll=33.183537,-83.391724&spn=1.990542,3.532104&z=8) just jump to every conclusion in reach and flame on big ben like they have nothing better to do with their time... ok i'm out of rant steam. buncha faggots.

They're now saying that Willy Colon was with him, so he can't even protect Ben off the field.

Ain't that the truth.

Whether or not it's a good sign is irrelevant... if it keeps Ben on the field and, (more importantly) winning games, he's making big $$$... might as well buy the best legal defense he can get.

True dat.  Also, the authorities questioned the girl, questioned ben and let him go... if there was any wrong doing why wouldn't they file charges?

Yeah.. it definitely could be that no charges ever will be filed.. and this attorney is from Atlanta.. it makes sense that Ben would get someone who has connections to the local law enforcement to check into things.. bottom line is that local and national media will get as much mileage out of this as they can.  (I just hope that's as far as it goes.)
Also, I enjoyed the people who commented that 'em Stillers should cut Ben right now... yeah that makes a lot of sense.  (But that's not to say that if he were a less valuable player they might not do just that.)

Also Randle El is back. They are really trying to fix the special teams this off-season.

Holy shit... and they re-signed Ryan Clark.. that's unexpected but real.  They're really addressing some needs.  Maybe if he has a good season at some point Heinz Field will go to 'Battle stations'.
I'm not gonna scour the comments posted after any news stories, but I'm willing to bet that somewhere someone wrote about how they signed Randle El to give them another quarterback option in case they have to cut Ben.

This move really made me scratch my head.  We have Holmes (who will be our #1 receiver and most we argue his is already).  Wallace came into his own this year and is a solid receiver also.

The Stillers signed Arnaz Battle (decent WR from SF) and Randle-El.  So, this makes me wonder about the future for Hines Ward?

I think randel el will be for special teams an optional 4th receiver and gadget play player. Our receiving squad is looking pretty tight right now. Looks like Larry Foote might be coming back as well.

Bringing back Foote is a great idea as well. That gives you Timmons, Farrior, Foote and Fox for the inside spots and if Woodley or Harrison gets hurt Timmons can move outside.

I wonder if he will squash his tomlin beef. But it would make a great addition to our defense. I do believe that he also played a lot of special teams.

Now we just need to hope our pass coverage gets better this year.

He's a special teams guy as well. I'm not even sure if he'll be ahead of Mundy on the depth chart, although maybe one guy will be the strong safety back up and the other the free safety backup.

The other crazy thing about this incident was that he was with two off-duty cops.  If anything happened wouldn't they have seen it?

If these cops are part of Ben's "posse", they probably won't say anything even if they know what really happened in that bathroom.
