Since we always seem to be trying new places to eat/drink, I figured a thread dedicated to the matter was well overdue. So, Kim got this deal from livingsocial for an Ethiopian place I've been wanting to try for a while. I've never had Ethiopian food, and I figured some other folks might want to get in on the deal and check the place out. http://livingsocial.com/deals/9953?ref=conf-jp&rpi=1597476Yes, I am asking you out on a date.

There is another Ethiopian place, Tana, about 100 yards from Abay, that I thought was much better.

I haven't tried the newer Ethiopian place, but Abay is alright. The last time I was there it wasn't anywhere near as good as it's been in the past.

http://www.saltpgh.com/This is the next place I want to try. The Bahn Mi taco that this chef created at Yo Rita is one of the best things I've ever eaten.

Has anyone been to conflict kitchen yet?
That and Umi, Chaya, and Sonoma Grille are on my list of places to try. I also want to try Toro's ribs in bloomfield just for fun.
For those of you that haven't been, I highly recommend Pangea. Also the blue dust is a cool little bar that has some good snack foods and lots of vegetarian options.
Felicia and I usually go out once a month with John and Amber to try new places. If anyone else is interested in doing something like this let me know.

I'd also like to check aht NA/CL. Remedy's old chef is running the place. Toro's has ribs? They are like 6 doors down from me and I've never smelled them. For anybody that might like to venture into Pittsburgh's "New Hamsterdam", The Dream on Braddock Ave in Homewood has some pretty awesome ribs.

I have definitely wanted to try out the Conflict Kitchen for some time now. I guess they change their menu every few months to reflect a different country we're at "loggerheads" with. It sounds like it might be cool to check out.

I heard about this little bar on McClure Ave. called the Aquarium where they make all kinds of fermented foods inside this big hole in the floor of the basement.

I wnt there for my Neighbor Nate's birthday. The beer selection was huge, and they also had home made flavored vodka's and if I remember correctly bacon bourbon. Bar food is good and they don't seem to have a fryer so it's not your typical heart attack food.

Kim and I also went there, and I had a different impression about the food. Everything was served to us cold, like it had just been sitting and waiting for someone to order it, and it smelled really bad inside the bar. I didn't think it was worth what we paid, honestly.

I did notice an odor in the entrance, between the first and second door. But I assumed some one crop dusted the enclosed space. Maybe they have some sewer issues...

Where did the term "gastropub" come from all of a sudden.. sounds like a place where they serve you Rolaids at the end of your meal and then you end up with a case of diverticulitis.
