I also like (as in "don't like") how this thread got sidetracked to Pirates discussion simply because of HS & crew pulling that "Hey Rocco" shit.
Way to make it sound insidious, Ponce- like I'm some kind of 50's street gang... and Matt's my gang.

I don't know if you see a bunch of cops dressed up un riot gear, common sense tells you hey maybe I should get the fuck out of here. People are pretty stupid.
And the one thing that the video doesn't illustrate is that those steps go right down to the street, so the cops were firing tear gas (or whatever or actually was) at the crowds on the street and it was rising up to the idiots who thought it would be a good idea to watch from the bridge. Maybe by the time they cornered them, they were actually firing it at the base of the steps. But hey, if you see a bunch of folks your age, some dressed up like protesters (who a lot of them felt like it was a great idea to dress like terrorists for whatever reason) and some dressed like you confronting police in riot gear - get out of the way - the cops don't have the time or convenience to tell the difference. Those kids at the end were trying to make it sound like it was Kent State or something - calm down kiddo, nobody got killed. And as far as infringing upon the rights of their residence hall - the police are allowed to into the residence hall if they please - just not your private room without a warrant.

Sounds like, even though all the G-20 shit ended earlier, that shit was poppin' off even more last night http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/09269/1001054-100.stmOr, at least, there were more arrests.

One of the things that would have probably made it a little less eventful in Pittsburgh is if they would've hosted it here when school wasn't in session for the colleges/universities.

I was pretty entertained by the students on our campus. A small group of people were setting up a cardboard box "slum" protest. They were overshadowed by a group of Business School students who set up a table next to it and were selling shirts that said "Apathy" on them (a project for an Entrepreneurship class, where each team created a product, and whoever had the largest net gain at the end of the week "won"). One of the frats had a BBQ with big sign that said "G20 is Sweet!", and they were holding signs that said "Protest the Protesters", which received a lot of cheers and horn beeps from passing cars. Kudos to Jonah's group for controlling their shit, and having one of the few protests where the news outlets were able to talk to people about what the hell they were actually there for.

Yeah I think the "anarchist" protesters (see almost every protest on Thursday) kinda ruined it for everyone, because the media eats up that confrontational shit. So the "chaotic" factor and perception is the unorganized protester's and the media's fault, except well the media didn't smash any windows.
