The Cup is in the Trib's office (actually I think it's the Pennysaver office) right now and they're taking everyone's picture with it. A bunch of people from my office got in line and acted liked they work there so they could get their picture taken.

So Paco, if you hurry up and get down to the Clark Building, go to the 2nd floor and make a right there should be an assload of people waiting in line, and you can sneak in and get a picture.

it's probably the replica one that they let the public see.  True, that's still pretty cool to have a picture with, but it's not the one that was on the ice/in the parade/at the bottom of Mario's pool.

Is that reminiscent of the real pig trophy that was at the bottom of the Louisville Holiday Inn pool?

Well, the Pens signed Mike Rupp from the Devils.  He's an enforcer mainly, which leads to the suspicions that Godard could be traded for cap room.  Cap room would make it easier to sign some of the players Scuderi and Tank.  Rupp is also a Cleveland native, so maybe Bob will buy one of his jerseys.

According to other reports, the Pens and Petr Sykora are currently in negotiations.  He's a 30+ goal scorer year after year and only 31.  I would love us to re-sign him and not just because I have his jersey.

Au Revoir to the S.S. Hal Gill.  He will be sailing off to Montreal for the next two years.  He's a solid defenseman, but we will have Goligoski up at the big boys club to take his place.

Well, that's all for now.

Thanks Paco, now I don't have to go look stuff up. Win!

Gill is slow and not in his prime anymore. I like the guy but I'm not really concerned about losing him. We can fill the slot.

Yes, we have no shortage of defensemen in the minors who are waiting to make it to the NHL.

Well, Rob Scuderi is now a Los Angeles King.

He won the cup, and now he gets a nice big contract.  Good luck Scuds.

I don't think this was posted here, but it looks like we've got Fedotenko locked down.

Yeah, I fell behind with the weekend camping, but tank is on for at least one more year, and he took a heck of a pay cut to do so.  Also, with the acquisition of Rupp, it looks like Max may become a fixture on the second line.

Yes, this thread has returned!  The Pens played their first preseason game and won 5-4 in OT last night.  Sid and Kunitz had two goals apiece coming back from a 3-0 deficit.  Sorry, I just got fired up listening to Mike Lange (when we could pick him up) driving around Wheeling last night.

Football Season overlapping Hockey Season = win!  We're going to the Pens/Islanders game on Oct 3rd, should be great as we're going with the masses of pens meetup folks from foleys so there will be like 200 pens fans with us.  It's gonna get sloppy!

Some unfortunate developments regarding the Pens.

I'd rather get these injuries out of the way now and be healthy for the playoffs.

Ehh 2-3 weeks is not all that bad, not at this point in the season, being the 2nd best team in the NHL right now. The thing that I've noticed about the Pens, they're not a "rely on one player" kinda team. Who won Game 7 last year for them - one could say Talbot since he's the only one that scored for them in that goal, one could say Fleury because he was outstanding in that game, but really it is always a team effort with this team. Yes it does suck a bit to already have Gonchar out (til December?) and also Talbot (til January?), but they will get through it.

Next month I'm going to my first Pens game since I was in high school, pretty excited for it!

So, the Pens more than likely will have Max Talbot back in the lineup on Thursday night, but yet another defenseman has gone down.

http://penguins.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=506559

With the loss of McKee, five of our six starting defenseman are out.  Gonchar, Orpik, Letang, and Goligoski should be back by early December, but this is fucking ridiculous.  I'm pretty sure we've lost a player a game for the past two weeks or so.
