We already have a pretty good lineup of stay at home defensemen. Perhaps this is the small tremor before a bigger trade involving another defenseman is made. If I had to make a guess, I would say that this won't be their only move before the deadline at 3pm on Wednesday. |

My guess. There were some rumors about them trading him and malkin as a pair... but I find that hard to believe.
Leopold seems to be picked up almost as an option to slow down Ovechkin. Seems like the have too many defensemen now and I'm guessing someone will have to go. So Letang or Gogo would be my guess, both of which have had many assumptions and trade rumors for a long time.

No way would they trade last year's Hart Trophy and Stanley Cup MVP winner. I can't imagine what talent they could even bring in for those two. Considering we have Malkin signed for another five years, there just isn't an upside to a trade involving him. Aside from that, a team would only make a move like that if they are in a rebuilding phase or hard up for cash. We all know the Penguins don't fit either of those criteria.
But then again, they don't pay me to make these speculations. Maybe they should?
