Still working out the events and such - and for those that know him, keep the Dennis thing on the DL. He would prefer to keep a low profile. I guess I'll be more the visible entity to the public.

Cool. I wasn't aware that you were involved with that Sean. I thought Draai Laag was just Dennis (sp?).
When is the first "event"?
That is in the works with hopes of having a beer tasting in September.

Well I finished my brewing marathon - 4 batches in 4 nights. Predicted final ABV - Barleywine @ 11.5%, Black IPA @ 5.6%, MAC IPA (with Belgian Golden Ale Yeast) @ 7.1% and Fat Tire Amber Clone @ 4.5%. The barleywine will get bottled and aged for Bull's bachelor party, and the other three will join a Raspberry Wheat that I have kegged in my work-in-progress kegerator. While it is a functional chest-freezer-turned-refrigerator-with-CO2-tank-and-regulator right now, eventually I would like it to look like one of these - http://www.homebrewtalk.com/f51/coffin-keezer-list-256871/#post3085925

Yeah, that was my favorite too! Also the part about how they can make it as runny or as firm as they want.

So I was thinking why doesn't anyone make a alcoholic ginger beer or ale anymore. Which also made me think about Root beer. And some research on wikipedia does show that both of these softdrinks used to be made containing alcohol, and still do in some countries. I think a ginger ale, root beer mixes six pack would be a novelty that would sell well. Any of you home brewers want to give it a try? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ginger_beerhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Root_beer

I'd drink an alcoholic root beer, unless it tastes like regular beer, in which case I wouldn't.

I have a book with a ginger beer recipe, I will have to look into that. Though I'm not a big fan of brewing a beverage / style that I have never tried before - if its cheap enough, why not?
As far as the alcoholic root beer goes - I looked around for a bit and read about 20 different versions of "A glass of rootbeer with an ounce of vodka is probably the easiest."

Wow, that sounds plain awful. Isn't that the beverage of choice that was featured in the Ponce and Rennie Christmas Special?

I'll pay for research, I think if some one made a really good ginger ALE or a root BEER it could be a highly profitable idea.

I always thought you guys were just drinking it straight, which is way more disgusting. There was also the time we mixed something with dr. pepper, was it yukon jack perhaps? It was at ponces old apartment in Bellevue with the True Junglist.
