I don't see why not, I think we could bring him to everything, but I think a 6 hour drive each way with a kid (not to mention watching him the entire time) maybe more than we're willing to handle for a weekend, and I think we would spend more time trying to keep him entertained and we would be able to enjoy it ourselves.
It's really just an issue of us deciding its worth spending the "credits" of asking my folks to watch him for a weekend
