Hey... I just hope they're well paid.  If they're not making enough money, they could end up doing a half-assed job!

So, bad enough they came up with the stupid color system in the first place, but now we need to revisit it with a 17 member task force.  Fuckin' idiots.  I mean, c'mon, are we ever really going to be at green or blue?

I'm glad the government is wasting money on this BS - it's times like these that make me feel special because though I know there are some people out there that need a color scheme to remind them of American paranoia, though I do not. And I am colorblind taboot Tongue

Maybe there needs to be a color scale for the likelihood that Ponce will ultrachill...

Do they really need a color scale, are these colors displayed anywhere for people to see? I mean dont they just get on the radio or tv and say "it is now red" why do you need a color it's not like there are flags being flown around or something. Just get on the damn radio and be like the threat level is high for an attack. How fucking hard is that. Or don't worry shit is quite on the western front.

At federal sites I think they are required to display the threat level.  For example, they had the threat level prominently displayed at Ft. Sumter in Charleston when I was down there.

My beef is it'll never been clear on the western front - so why bother.  Just express to everyone to be vigilant and a good patriot like they always do and forget the level BS.

I won't feel safe again until Tom Ridge gets back in charge and tells everyone to go buy duct tape and plastic sheeting.

What was the threat level for a Confederate attack down there?

Why doesn't this guy just get his own freakin' channel already.
I'm almost entirely positive that there isn't going to be any new pertinent information presented that people, if so inclined, can't already find.

Is it messing with your prime time TV schedule Ponce? Tongue

The guy likes his press conferences - he's trying to get a bill on what most deem as is his signature first term issue passed - I can't say whether I agree with his tactics or not, but I understand them.  He may not be presenting new information that people couldn't find but honestly a vast majority of people don't look for this information - and don't give a shit about important things like health care reform when "America's Got Talent" is on. (as evidenced below)

Quote
Originally, the White House scheduled the appearance for 9:00 p.m. but encountered objections from the TV networks. NBC plans to air "America's Got Talent" at that hour, including an appearance by Susan Boyle, the surprise star of the British version of the show. So the White House moved its event up to 8:00 p.m..

I wonder why conservative-nutjob-owned Fox decided not to cover it? Especially when their cable news channel is?

Quote
The Fox network says it's skipping live coverage of President Barack Obama's prime-time news conference Wednesday night.

But the session, beginning at 8 p.m. Eastern, will be carried by networks including ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, CNBC, C-SPAN, Fox Business Network, Fox News Channel, MSNBC and PBS.

News Corp.-owned Fox, which plans to air entertainment programming instead, also opted out of Obama's prime-time news conference last April.

Which is fine.  If they don't give a shit, or won't be bothered to find out, that's on them.  No excuse to pre-empt shit @ 8 o'clock.

I assume you've answered your own question.  Why cover it twice?
I'd like to think NBC could do the same with MSNBC. (I don't think CBS or ABC have similar options though)

Though you do bring up a good point.... I doubt there was going to be anything really worthwhile on anyway.

Well actually stopping to think about it, Fox is covering it on a non-network basis - "Hey we're gonna cover this on our cable stations that subscribers pay for, but our network that everyone receives - nahh we're not gonna give this leftist president access to our audience"

I do agree that there a great deal of Americans out there that could care less about healthcare reform every when its being broadcasted at them, and that's their deal if they want to be ignorant of such things. But there is also gonna be a bunch of people in that same target audience that didn't know anything about healthcare reform, but when the news conference pre-empts their reality TV, they might actually pay attention and someone just might learn something about whats going on around them...

...Or they just might turn off the TV until the interview with that stupid Brit lady who had a breakdown on Britians Got Talent or whatever is on later. I swear to Christ if I have to see one more trailer for that, I'm gonna lose it

In the end, it is really the decision of the networks whether or not to air the president's press conference or not, so blame them if ya don't like it.
