Perhaps we should get some tickets for one of these games, and during the tailgate before hand have the next Iron Chef cook-off? Bob and Kraig vs. Bryce and I in battle BBQ.

I don't think I can get my smoker to the parking lot and I'll need time to prepare the hickory chips. Hmmm actually I would need a oven too. Think I'd go with a sweet baby ray's, Jesse Lee's sauce combination with maybe some grill mates and labad's seasoning throw in for some kick.

The thing with a BBQ battle is the form. Would it involve a theme ingredient, or would it be a set number of dishes prepared and the chef chooses the ingredients? Or would it even be that each chef prepares their own version of pre-selected dishes?

That's the biggest challenge with a BBQ battle. That and the amount of time it would take to smoke everything. That's why I think that doing pre-selected dishes would be a good format for the battle. Then the challengers can prepare their dishes at home, and bring them to the tailgate. It would also allow for more than 2 teams to participate.

Lets just all pitch in and get some prime parking

Obviously you don't think that Kraig is going to forgo watching the Indians in order to cook bbq- It should obviously take place before one of the Cleveland games... for the perfect symmetry of Cleveland vs. Pittsburgh. However, the 3 games of that series are June 24, 25 & 26, which are all weekdays. They're 7pm games, so we may need to all take a day off of work to get down there and set up the grilling and tailgating- cause if we just show up after work there'd be no time between them and the game. $1.50- I recommend that you call in sick that day so that your boss can potentially see you drinking and tailgating out the window of his office. Also- the Cleveland series tickets are in the position sales-wise that the Yankees series tickets were last year- they aren't available with the 8-pack, which means they think that this might be the one series of the season that sells ahht... we might wanna get tickets soon.

It would be tempting.... at least the BBQ part. I suppose it would be preferable to not have to use a vacation day for it.

Personally, the whole idea of Iron City Chef is not knowing the secret ingredient and only have 1 hour to prepare it. That's the challenge. Shit, anyone can make something the night before and then just heat it up on the flames. If BBQ is the battle, perhaps better to do a "best BBQ" competition at the Aquarium Party?

While watching the Pirates is a step up from working (barely), eating some good food while not working is much much better!

It's all true- in fact I have a much greater possibility of becoming frustrated and angry while watching the Pirates than I do at work dealing with mentally ill children.
I don't really care when or where the competition happens- all I know is that as sous chef for the defending iron city chef I'll be ready whenever and wherever the challenge is issued.

I think we would have to do it at the Aqua Bar, since it would be pretty tough to get judges and coordinate the whole thing around a weekday game. Other than that, the name doesn't really matter. We could make everything at Ponce's, but we'd have to bring in the equipment and have like 6 hour time limit.
