That's gonna suck. Glad I'm not going out that way this weekend.

So they're closing the turnpike between those two exits for 5 hours... Eh not that big of a deal... Then again I'm not a trucker or any like profession

If I were going out that way this weekend, I'd probably just as soon take I-68 instead of the Turnpike anyway.

So they're closing the turnpike between those two exits for 5 hours...

Which is kind of bullshit, cause there is 2 exits in between.  It may be the easiest detour in the long haul, especially for trucks.... but not that much of the Turnpike needs closed.

Yeah I suppose that they would only need to close down the road between Carlisle and one exit, but there's no easy detour to get back on at the next exit...

I don't know who, if anyone, would be directly affected by this.

http://www.postgazette.com/pg/09079/957120-147.stm

I suppose if anyone knows anyone flying in on those weekends, it would be something to consider.

Not that I know of.
As an asides... It also seems that May 16 will most likely be the date of the Aquarium party.  Haven't declared that officially yet though.

I ain't invited.

Hmmm i figured some of yins would get invited.  Anyway, we're having the bachelor party in pittsburgh and I don't think there will be too many of us to celebrate so some of yins might get a last minute invite for some serious debauchery.

Count me in. I think we should go to The Bead Mine and make necklaces, then hit up the Cheesecacke Factory for dessert and cosmos.

If that's too crazy for you, we could always go to that place in Larryville where you paint your own pottery.

That's true.
It's just frustrating that a lot of the problems are just stupid old design issues that create moronic bottlenecks.

And dumbass drivers that don't understand the concept of driving as fast in the tunnels as you do outside them.

Quote
Councilwoman Darlene Harris, who represents the area, issued a news release yesterday pointing out that East Ohio isn't a city-maintained road, and saying that she had asked PennDOT to hold off on repaving the street until the Pittsburgh Water and Sewer Authority could fix leaky water lines beneath it. The authority's work, she said, is done, allowing the repaving to begin.
I wonder if that is because they call that first stretch of 28 "East Ohio Street" as well

In any event, that shouldn't be too bad I don't think and they should be done well before we have folks over

... and this would probably only really effect $1.50 on any regular basis, but it is good to see PennDOT actually making good progress on projects that are helpful.

So PENNDOT says that the inbound lanes of the parkway west are closed this weekend...
http://www.dot.state.pa.us/penndot/districts/district11.nsf/D11AlleghenyCounty?OpenFrameSet

WPXI says it's the outbound lanes...

What say you Ponce?

I didn't realize that link didn't go directly to the page I was looking at. Here is the text.

Quote
PennDOT District 11 is advising motorists the inbound (eastbound) lanes of the Parkway West (I-279 and Route 22/30) will be closed to traffic this weekend, April 17-20, 2009, in Robinson and Collier townships, Allegheny County.

The closure will begin at 10 p.m. on Friday night and will continue around-the-clock through 5 a.m. on Monday, April 20. Traffic will be detoured. Signs will be posted and police will help direct traffic. Approximately 30,000-40,000 vehicles use the inbound Parkway West on an average weekend day.

Posted Detour:
• Inbound traffic will exit at the Route 22/30/60 interchange.
• Follow southbound Route 60 (Steubenville Pike) to the I-79 Interchange
• Enter southbound I-79 and follow to the Parkway West interchange (Exit 59B)
• Reenter inbound Parkway West toward Pittsburgh

The on-ramps to the inbound Parkway West from Route 22/30/60, Campbells Run/Boyce Road and Ridge Road will also be closed this weekend.

This is the second of five closures scheduled on the Parkway West. The closures are necessary as crews mill, patch and resurface the Parkway West in the area between the Settlers Cabin and I-79 interchanges. The following additional weekend closures are tentatively scheduled:
• April 24-27: Inbound (eastbound) closure - 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday
• May 1-4: Outbound (westbound) closure - Midnight Friday to 5 a.m. Monday
• May 8-11: Outbound (westbound) closure - 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday

All work is weather dependent and the schedule could change.

Motorists should be prepared for possible delays, stop conditions and changing traffic patterns when traveling on the Parkway West. Allow extra time, plan accordingly, slow down and be safe.

According to the Trib, it was going to be inbound, but the inbound shit was completed ahead of schedule, so they're gonna do outbound shit this weekend.
