Yeah it was definitely warm out cause we all ran outside to watch. And the best part was that whoever was bartending at the time tried to use the BBT fire extinguisher to put out the fire, but the fire extinguisher was so old that nothing came out.

I think there was two times actually. I remember the car going up onto the median and then catching fire. And we all just watched from the window.

http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/10057/1038748-53.stmI suppose this might be the occasional pain in the ass for those of us in the Northside/Bellevue area. I also imagine that detour is a little rough for bus drivers (especially the Bellevue/Ross portion of Brighton Rd, that shit's pretty narrow.)

Yeah I had seen the signs along Lincoln/California for a while now, but I didn't know it was supposed to be closed for nine months! That detour is ridiculous, that section of Brighton (it's all Bellevue there) from Jacks Run up to Lincoln is way too narrow - sure its passable with occasional traffic, but when you start diverting traffic from a main thoroughfare through there, there are bound to be some accidents. I'll just get onto 65 at Riverview Ave instead. Or maybe just going down Bellevue Road > Jacks Run > Brighton (after the narrow part) instead as traffic gets backed up on 65 before the McKees Rocks Bridge all the time.

Yeah that's gonna snarl my bus route. I knew this was coming but the date kind of snuck up on me. Between that and the fact that when they do their route changes I would have to change buses downtown, I might be biking in a lot more..

Well, it added about 25 minutes to my bus ride this morning. I guess I'll have to leave the house shortly after 7 now to get to the strip district by 8:30. The bike option might be worth looking into for me.

I don't know if it was directly related to it's opening, or indirectly related, (or somehow unrelated), but traffic queued up to get on to the West End Bridge from the (northbound) O.R.B. this evening was backed up almost to the Ft. Duquesne Bridge. For a project that's supposed to make things much better, I haven't seen traffic that bad trying to get on the bridge since the McKees Rocks bridge was closed.

I haven't left work yet, so I don't know. They were supposed to be opening up the northbound lanes, so I hope it dind't fuck something up with the southbound lanes.

There's always gonna be some ramp up time for people to get used to new traffic patterns... that being said, it was pretty darn amusing to see all the cars backed up that far yesterday.

Google Maps will plan your route to avoid steep hills whenever possible Jon, remember you and I talked about something like this 3 years ago. I'm gonna look forward to trying this out.

It has some kinks though... I just bike googled the route from my house to work, and while I understand that they are keeping to less traveled streets and bike paths, it actually took me OFF the bike path on the North Side to inexplicably bike around the Warhol Museum before getting back on the trail

It also doesn't currently know about how to get through various parks (unless there's a drivable road running through it). There is a link to report unknown or invalid paths/trails though, so that should get better over time.

http://www.pittsburghlive.com/x/pittsburghtrib/news/roadwork/s_671084.htmlIt kinda sounds like this guy is just trying to milk PennDOT for whatever he can. I'm sure he's not thinking that him getting to keep his building is an option.

Ponce I got 5 or 6 notices from PAMS this week for non-filing in 2008 and it immediately made me think of you. Just wanted to share that.

Maybe he's hoping that they'll do what they did with my house when they widened 65 and move it up the hill.

The front part of it was.. probably sometime around the 40's they moved it up the hill and built the back part onto it. (That might not have happened at the same time.. I'm thinking they moved it and then maybe built the addition in the 50's.)

Maybe you could put it across Davis and then charge tolls for people to cross.. I'd pay $.25 - $.50 to avoid driving into the cut.
