If you are married and your wife has gotten the credit, you cannot get it.  However, if you are not married, you are able to get it even if your live-in has received the credit.  That's how Sarah and I were going to get around it.  You can even co-sign on the loan and you still get the credit.

Yeah and it won't probably have to deal with if you file jointly or seperately.

On a non-real estate but financial bailout note, whatever happened to that "cash for appliances" thing they were supposed to roll out?  I could use a new stove (and hot water heater, and eventually washing machine)

I'm pretty sure you can get money for the hot water heater as long as it's energy efficent or something. Not sure about the rest.

Today I'm officially a home owner. Now I just need to get over to the new place sometime.

Congrats n'at.  This is what I was talking about - I guess it is up to states to decide the details.  And we should have more info by the end of the year, supposedly..

Congrats Bull!

So, if I spend $5K to replace some Windows in my house next year, I'll get a $1,500 tax credit?

I just bought a new dryer at the Sears outlet in Larryville a couple of weeks ago and that place kicks ass! I would highly recommend checking it out.

There's a Sears outlet in Lawrenceville? Or are you referring to this - http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=larryville+PA&sll=40.454339,-80.001807&sspn=0.011772,0.01929&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=Larryville,+Lycoming,+Pennsylvania&ll=41.239796,-77.217192&spn=5.95566,9.876709&z=7

Yeah, we paid our dues 3 years ago- and now my parents are trying to fix up that other house, so I get roped into painting over there every once in a while.
I will tell you, though.. that texturized paint is a bitch.

I'm using a primer and paint in one from Behr. So it shouldn't be too bad. Living room will be asparagus (gross) and the dining room an orange called flaming torch... bring on the jokes guys. I wasn't really expecting anyone to help, I'm pretty sure that I can get it all done by thursday myself. Which gives me two days to dry before moving begins.

I have to caulk around some of the woodwork though first. The video I watched said you want a small hole for your caulk, the smaller the better. Make sure you just shave the tip until you get the hole the right size. You don't need alot of caulk just a little caulk will work and it's less messy. LoL, I was laughing my ass off.

When I was working at the Mt. Lebanon campus one of the maintenance workers got on the paging system and said "Mike, bring the caulk and the gun up to the third floor- we need to do it around the air conditioner..."
It was one of the single greatest things I've ever heard.

So did you not have any say on the colors, or did you want your place to look like a pumpkin?

I picked out the colors. Well atleast the green I did. Felicia likes orange so I let her pick one I liked. It's going to look good.

Here's the green color I picked. It will look good witht he hardwood floors and all the woodwork in the house.

It's going to look like it's straight out the sears catalog.

Look.. I'd be highly remiss if I didn't point out that Bull just posted something from apartmenttherapy.com.. I'd have never believed this could have every happened back in the days when he was living in that crackhouse.
