Yeah so Saturday I am goin out to the bars - not sure where yet. The Thunderbird is out, as there is some band there that I don't know of and the cover is $15. I was thinking either Sidelines (but that BS that we encountered there this past Saturday is working against that option), Dee's, or an East Allegheny tour (Park House and Max's maybe). Open to suggestions as well.

Also, I just realized that this Saturday is the St. Patrick's Day Parade. Although most people are done drinking heavily by nighttime - Southside is probably gonna be a bad idea...

Hmmm. If that's the case, then I may go to Paddy's Pour House in Carnegie. Liz used to go there with her family after the parade, and she always liked it (never been there myself). Not sure though since Saturdays I'm usually pretty busy around the house.

Was Bob there drinking out of your mug again? OK here's my complaint - You guys remember when we were there for Greg's bachelor party, right? About an hour before we left, some family showed up with their two kids to eat dinner. Leaving me with the idea that if you showed up early enough, you didn't need to be 21+ to eat there. So, Kathryn and I and her brother James and his girlfriend Shannon showed up at 7:30 to get some wings - it was Poker night or whatever so we took a table by the front of the bar, and of course since only one person (Ashley) was working, we went up the bar to order our food after making our decisions. So Kat and I ordered first, and she got a pop and I got this new IPA that I wanted to try. Then she went to James and Shannon and asked them for their IDs, to which James said "I have mine but she's not 21 - we're just getting food and Pepsi", Ashley then said that they had to leave, we canceled our orders, and she made me pay for the drinks we had ordered (but hadn't even touched yet). I wanted to call BS on it there and then (because of the story above), but at that point I was just hungry, so I chugged the IPA and we left. I'm 99% sure that if it were Jess or Seabass working, this would not have been an issue. I was the only one trying to get a beer, and we told her that Shannon wasn't 21 and wasn't trying to drink, it's not like we were trying to be sneaky or anything. Well whatever, they missed out on $40-60 of business from us, and Max's benefitted from it (not to mention that they served all of us with no hassle whatsoever). It's not like this is gonna happen again as I don't hang out with anyone else who isn't of age yet I just think that it was horseshit. Next time I am at Sidelines I'm definitely bringing that up.

My understanding is that you're not allowed to even be in a bar if you're not 21. But making you pay for that beer was bullshit for sure.

How early you show up shouldn't matter to the PLCB. During Gregor's bachelor party, the kids were young enough that I'm sure they were with their parents, and therefore allowed into the bar. In your scenario, if I've read it right, the person who was under 21 was not with their parents, and therefore could not be allowed into the bar. As I've been told, that is the law (at least in PA), that if you're under 21, the only way to legally be in a bar is with a parent or legal guardian.

If that's how the letter of the law is written, I can see why she had to tell you to go. But she never should have made you pay for the beer. She can be rather moody sometimes, though. Still, no excuse. Maybe Kat's brother should have turned to Shannon and said "who's your daddy..."

I'm not sure. For awhile they had some crappy banner that said something like Rolls Royce Lounge, but then they got the permanent RR sign. Needless to say I didn't pay much attention.

Well if that's the case then fine, I guess that kinda makes sense. She still could have been cool about it, instead of barking at me for $5 once I canceled our order... It sucks because we had been talking up Sidelines food to them all weekend... instead we had reubens and schnitzels and potato pancakes... good stuff

I guess that's the shit that happens when you have to deal with people under 21. I think you also would've been S.O.L. if you had tried to get to the show @ Howler's as well.

Yeah after Sidelines shot us down, we decided to not even bother with Howler's and just bought some beer and liquor at drank at home and played Scrabble.

Howler's was packed I couldn't even get into the back room when I arrived to see the band. Some guy came in bleeding all over. It smelled like a giant armpit. And their credit card machine wasn't working. Other than that it was an alright time.

I think that was probably the most packed place YORSP has played yet. If we would've had our album finished and ready for sale, I think we could've actually sold a few.

Sure, like that (though I think our crowd was a bit bigger last Sat.).
And, Grant was given the 1-time exemption from his Howler's ban, so he was there. (And managed to not get kicked out!)

We ended up going to that little coffee shop on Foreland St. It's pretty good, and the lady that runs it is very nice, so we're trying to support her business.

Oh, and I do have to say that Grant was amazingly well-behaved... I was sure he was gonna heckle the hell out of the Gentleman Band- they appeared like they would've given him the kind of reaction that would've fueled his fire.

Also, just in case Paco is reading this, I wanted to let him know that during our show the reasons cited for his absence included: several STD's, an outbreak of the ricketts, and the fact that he's a convicted sex offender (with a record) and he had to go door to door to tell everyone he's a pederast.
