As this is usually the time of year for repeats, it's no surprise that tonights episode is one. I can't remember if this episode was from this season, or last one: Stabler and Benson are at odds over whom to believe in a “he said, she said” rape case involving a husband and wife (Blair Underwood, Michael Michele) in the middle of an extremely bitter child-custody dispute. Tessa: Tiffany Evans. Kathy: Isabel Gillies. Eriq La Salle directed.

If the writers' strike doesn't end, Tuesday nights could turn into shrimp and reality TV.

From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Effect_of_the_2007_Writers_Guild_of_America_strike_on_television -- Law & Order: Special Victims Unit -- 14 episodes have been completed.[4]The Office -- All 8 completed episodes have been aired. Production stopped. Reruns started November 26, 2007[43] One unproduced script.[44] Scrubs -- 12 have been completed.[3] Series finale episode could possibly not be produced or broadcast;[46] were this to happen, series creator Bill Lawrence will try to release a straight-to-DVD final episode.[47]

I do believe the regular time slot for old school Law & Order is 10pm Wednsday when it starts next year (with the C.I. episodes from USA shown beforehand). I imagine that I'll have to record the Law & Order episodes most of the time, as Sidelines seems to favor showing the sports programs... even on wing night.

yeah well this is what the schedule is supposed to look like --
194 - 911 "Streetwise" January 1, 2008 195 - 912 "Unorthodox" January 8, 2008 194 - 913 "Inconceivable" January 15, 2008 (it'd be great if this one had the guy from The Princess Bride) 194 - 914 "Signature" January 29, 2008

From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2007_Writers_Guild_of_America_strikeThe current strike has so far lasted 5 weeks. The last such strike in 1988 lasted 22 weeks, and cost the American entertainment industry an estimated 500 million dollars
Bear in mind that would put them 22 weeks (around 5 months) behind on writing

Entertaining like what? American Idol and Kid Nation? There are good shows on cable (which I ain't getting till I can get ala carte) but there are only a couple good shows on regular tv.. Law n' Order and maybe one or two others (like Haus).

TV may suck enough already, but exchanging scripted shows for non-scripted (IE: reality) means TV will outdo itself in sucking.

hahah you just named two reality shows... that AREN'T affected by the strike... They are unscripted shows... as all reality TV is. To clarify by "unscripted" I mean that they don't use professional writers (i.e. members of the WGA), I'm sure much of their shit is somewhat preplanned and they have some "writing" staff...

In fact, this strike only means a bigger gap which most networks will predominantly fill with reality TV

Maybe I spoke too soon... this would be fuckin awesome -- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dexter_%28TV_series%29On December 3, 2007, CBS Corporation president and CEO Leslie Moonves confirmed that Dexter would "probably" air on the major US network in Spring, to fill holes left by the 2007 Writers Guild of America strike.[2]

... which is actually a contention of the strike: the producers believe that reality shows don't require writing when in fact they do. The basic problem (besides their beef about not getting $ from internet media) is that these media companies would like to somehow automagically conceive of and write these shows themselves with zero creativity and input by actual writers. But in actuality it takes writers to create story arc, etc. even in a shitty reality show that seems like it must have been the result of some crappy-show-generating computer program.

Now's the perfect time to hit up a major network for production of DVUS TV. I'm not worried about being called a scab- those writers ain't shit to me. Let's see... we've got Dirty French Explorers, Wolfman Jack goes to the Mall... come on, what else?

It's too bad that this strike happened in the wintertime. If it was nice outside, I wouldn't give a flying fuck about reruns. And yes, I know that's why they went on strike when they did.

Yeah, that one was supposed to star Gregor as "asshole with bag of money". In the final scene he throws money at some doctors until they agree to give him a liver meant for someone else, and then he throws money at them until they cook it and eat it.

You don't need writers... just follow Bobitski around with a camera for 24/7 for just one week and you have enough entertaining, dramatic, sad, funny, and tragic footage for a one hour episode 5 days a week for 6+ months
