Started a new thread, over 25 pages will start make things crap out... While I don't much care about the educational system in Pittsburgh, I kind of thought this was pathetic. http://www.postgazette.com/pg/08266/914029-298.stmWhy set a minimum of just 50%?? Set a minimum of 80% (Hell, even 99%) and we'll have (or at least we can "say") we have the smartest kids anywhere! This is exactly what they were trying to start at my old high school in VA & it was met with a very similar response. Pretty ridiculous. I can *almost* buy into what they say about giving kids a fair shake to raise their grade, except that the ones who are scoring 20 & 30% don't give a shit about raising their grades. If they did, they wouldn't be getting 20s & 30s. Meanwhile, they're being handed 50 points for free that everyone else had to earn. Admin tries to put the "we're doing what's best for the children" spin on it, but it's really a strategy to make their district appear better on paper. Sorry for the teacher rant. The end. Its all a pretty pathetic attempt at administrators trying to not lose their jobs |

Well if they were epxecting him to use GIS, they shoudl ahve provided the proper training and software - though I'm not quite sure why you would need GIS to figure out that a street needs plowed - it sounded like they were saying that every street needed (to be  ) plowed, so put every street on the list, and then make some routes. It's not rocket science... |
