I know some folks are normally out of town on Memorial Day Weekend... Also, I suppose since Morgan's birthday is the 20th that we're probably having a party for him that weekend as well (but the scope of that hasn't been discussed yet, at the very least we would be doing a small family party for him so it would affect my ability to attend said Aquarium Party) Also, though it doesn't affect anyone else, Kat's turning 30 on the 30th of May as well.

Thought I'd move this discussion to the right thread. So anyway, how is this for a format?
Each team will prepare 3 dishes, 2 set dishes and 1 that is the chef's choice. Each dish will be judged separately, and at the end of the 3 rounds we total the scores and the chef with the highest score wins.
For the food preparation we could either make it that the dishes are prepared on site (with an appropriate time limit), off site, or a combination of both. For instance we could allow the 2 set dishes to be prepared at home, but the chef's choice dish has to be prepared at Ponce's. We could even involve a secret ingredient in the chef's choice dish if we wanted to.
As for judging, maybe everyone should be able to "buy" a ballot (only 1) to judge that round. Then that money can be used as a prize for the winner or to pay for ingredients and beer.

As near as I can tell, the only time I'd have an issue with is May 30, when I'll more than likely have to work 2-10 and then go back in on Sunday morning at 7am. Please do not make it on this day.

Some past AQ Party memories... Yeah... I guess I can recall some stuff 5/28/2005 (Memorial Day Weekend) Memorable cause it was the first one. Lots of horseshoes played. I think we tried to have a small Shithouse show in the basement. $1.50 made some "Jesse-Lee's Chicken" and baked beans with a shitload of bacon in them. 5/27/2006 (Memorial Day Weekend) Featured Edward 40-hands.... and, of course, the whole Grant Fiasco. 5/12/2007 A bit more low key. Sean & Sarah brought Cornhole over. People wrote all over Dongelli (sp) Bull brought Vinny. ( I think this was the year Bull threw his cell phone out of his car on Rt. 28 as well). Also, trying to hold a "meeting" about the possible planned music festival replacement to Lumberjam. That was actually the year Sean wasn't there. He was outta town on business. It was the year the junglist killed me and I was passed out on Ponce's couch from till 4am then got up and drank more.5/17/2008 The most recent. Memorable because of the Iron Chef competition, and also a bunch of people recording the chorus to "Scrotum" I'm 95% confident those memories are accurate. |
