Kind of a reverse tribute to Matt's baseball card countdown, my tribute countdown to 100 losses begins now.

there should be a crown or something on that steaming pile. You know, to signify that the Pirates are in fact the worst team and will be getting the first overall draft pick next season.

Shame we got rid of him... Sure, maybe we wouldn't have won any more games, but they could have been more entertaining....

http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/B/BBN_NATIONALS_MARLINS?SITE=PAPIT&SECTION=SPORTS&TEMPLATE=DEFAULT

They showed the footage about a gazillion times while we were enjoying our wings.

I thought it was kind of impressive that he was able to steal those bases though.
A case of "'Roid Rage"??

Tony Plush ain't juicin'.  His OPS is .635 and he has 0 home runs.. and he was fast before.  He's just a little crazy.

It's good to see that his relief managed to to be as bad in one inning as Duke was in the first 2.

(Obviously at this point, I don't know how the game ends, but I'm willing to bet Sean can continue his countdown.)

I think what this actually proves is that Ponce pays attention to the Buccos scores even this late in a historically terrible season.. which makes him a die-hard fan.  Welcome, Ponce.

Yeah, that was pretty entertaining.  I got to the Lines last night, looked at the TV and said "Damn, 9-1 already, what happened?"  And Ponce gave me the whole run down.  True Fan Crabquest.

The count to 100 losses is stalled for a day, and at least there's this:

"Walker extended his hitting streak to 18 games by beating out a slow chopper to third in the first inning. His streak is the longest by a Pittsburgh rookie since Rennie Stennett's 18-game streak in 1971."

I never seen a fast chopper. Except maybe when he gave watches out to the girls.

There's always next season.. hopefully it won't be quite as profitable as this season was.  It's kind of a sad trip down (recent) memory lane to read his one-line recaps of every game.
