While I think the idea to assist people on how their plate should look, this isn't very helpful. At least the old pyramid told you how many servings per day you need. Plates do come in differing sizes. So, theoretically, some dumbass out there will think that a 9oz steak with each meal is good since it only takes up a quarter of the plate. This assists folks to understand the ratios, but does nothing to educate on recommended intake.

I now follow the "if you feel bloated or tired after eating, you have eaten way too much" rule nowadays as far as intake. Also known as the "no you shouldn't pile food on top of more food on a plate" or the "no you actually shouldn't go back for seconds" rule. |
