Wow, another drug similar to heroin.  Yeah, that's a REAL good idea  Roll Eyes

http://pittsburgh.cbslocal.com/2011/11/28/new-drug-takes-hold-in-pittsburgh-area/

I don't know that its similar to heroin except in the way that most painkillers are. I really don't know what pharmaceutical company was like "3 times stronger than oxycontin - great idea". It almost makes it sound like they are producing the drug to be misprescribed and misused. Then again the "3 times stronger" might just be some junkie talking and not fact.

I'm sorry but 200 lbs at age 8 is ridiculous. I mean I was a fat kid, but I don't think I reached 200 lbs until college. I don't want to judge someone else's parenting but I would think that they would start to address the issue when the kid hit the 150 mark or even the 125 mark.

http://www.disabled-world.com/artman/publish/height-weight-teens.shtml says that the average weight for an 8 year old boy is 57.2 lbs. So this kid is darn near 4 times the average weight for his age. Given, the article doesn't say how tall he is, but short of him being 5'10 or something at that age, that kid is very unhealthy.

Taking him away from his mother is the wrong thing to do, no doubt. Its just sad that either A) People don't know / think obesity is an issue or B) People aren't able to control what their child eats.

I just hope that I never have to deal with that.

Just like a lot of parenting issues I bet they just let him eat because if they say NO he gets upset. It's easier to let the kid get his way and it keeps him quite. I see parents do this alot, or they say no and then the kid crys and they give in. Which just enforces the kids ideas that if he crys or has a tantrum he will get his way, making him the one in charge. Plus at 200 lbs he might beat his parents ass. lol.

My dad use to make me go outside and run laps around the swimming pool... which probably also wasn't good parenting. lol.

I was just listening a discussion about this on the radio.  I think there were probably some parenting issues that had been discussed with child welfare beforehand.  The agency claims that they had been working with the mother for 20 months.  If you haven't at least started working on changing the kid's lifestyle after nearly two years, perhaps the mom in this case doesn't deserve to raise her son.  Just sayin'

Adam's definitely all about using wireless headphones for monitoring.. I don't know about the microphones, though.

I definitely think wireless headphones would make things a lot easier.  Don't know if these mics would be as useful or versatile as the hodge-podge of mics we are currently using.

The wireless mics would only be useful for the live setup.. we'd still use the tube mics and what-have-you for recording.. so unless we plan on playing a ton of live shows all of a sudden they aren't a very pressing need.

There are also concerns about wireless shit creating interference with the shit we're recording.
