(keeping with the city/state/country threads and all..)

Firing guns into the air to celebrate a military victory?  Kind of dumb I guess, seeing as how bullets/shell casings fall back to earth, etc.
Firing anti-aircraft weapons into the air to celebrate a military victory?  Straight up Darwin Awards

My favorite comment so far:

Why is that even in places where people have nothing, no food, no water, no functioning services, NOTHING.... they never seem to have a shortage of bullets.

I like the part about the angle of the AA gun was such that people on the third floor of any nearby building would want to think about body armor... That's some badass body armor right there.

So, Bob, you've been spending a lot of time in Ohio lately.  Anything you want to come clean about?

And I'd like to think it was something like this:

I'm a part-time fisting and forearm model. It's dirty work but it pays the bills.

It's not a done deal yet, but the world would doubtless become more dicked up if this happened.

That is dicked up. The make millions of dollars as a voice for characters. They do not have to do anything else. Sad.

"Studio executives are reportedly insisting that each of the six principal actors accept a 45 percent pay cut, from $8 million a year to a little more than $4 million. The actors refused. Earlier, the actors had offered to take a 30 percent cut in pay in exchange for a share in the show's huge back-end profits. Fox executives refused."

This seems to be a pretty solid compromise- I bet that means that $4 million per actor is a drop in the bucket compared to what they'd get for a share of the 'back-end profits'.

I agree, but think of it like this - I pay you 10 oranges for the same job every year for five years, the sixth year I determine that your talent is only worth 5 oranges per year. Whether or not what an orange is actually worth, your talent just got devalued to protect someone else's bottom line.

Its coming down to this because the show isn't bringing in the ratings that it used to. Maybe having new episodes on Sunday nights when most folks are more apt to watch Sunday Night Football on NBC isn't the best idea? The show has been on for 23 years, it has to end sometime. I'll be honest I stopped actively watching it around 2000, I've caught an episode or two since then, but its never been enough to get me hooked up watching the show again.

it's always been one of my favorite programs.  I'll be sad to see it go, especially considering that these actors are what really make the show what it is and the execs will be the only ones making any money off of it after further syndication.  You know it will be around forever even after/if it's cancelled.

Still kind of seems like a dumb move on Fox's part.  I mean, maybe it's ratings aren't what they were back in the day, but I'd have to guess that it's still an old reliable work-horse in that department.
I mean, what is their replacement plan?  Another Seth McFarlane show?

Like I said, the proverbial "golden eggs" might not be as big as they used to be, but given the actors offered some decent concessions, Fox really must not care about killing that proverbial goose.

You'd think after 20 years of episodes they would have cataloged every word that each character has said.  They could just fire the voice talent and then stitch those cataloged words together to fill in the dialogue.  Just a thought.

They did that with Chef in South Park after Isaac Hayes got all upset about them spoofing Scientology.  It was a little dijointed, but still pretty funny.

Paco, since you are currently on the open market, I vote for you as the new voice of Doctor Nick.

Yeah for real.. I'm sure he would gladly do the voice for a measly .5 - 1 million per season (and then buy us all boats for giving him the idea)

Now that I think about it, I don't think I've seen Dr. Nick Riviera in a while.  Perhaps The Simpsons should do a spin-off of it ala The Cleveland Show from Family Guy.

I'm just confused why Jeebas used oranges in his breakdown of the issue. Why change currency to fruit?

Yeah, if it was 8 million oranges and then they changed it to 4 million oranges I would still be confused. That million word makes it confusing even when it's still half. Thanks for clearing that up Nick. /sarcasm

Did anybody else find this sick fuck's book title mildly ironic? I think YORSP should co-opt the title and image as the cover to the upcoming album...

So, if YORSP actually had a gig in the near future (of course, we don't), it would be in bad taste to substitute "Coach Finnstock" with "Coach Sandusky" in Somebody Touched Me??

I'm sure they'll play that gig right after they have finished the album in another 15 years.
