Thanks for stopping by! If you've been with us for years, or if are new to the fold, send us an email and we'll set you up an account so you can join in the discussion.   Be careful of a Nitpickery charge though.

Here are some configuration options that you may want to apply.  These can all be changed with the "Profile" button in the main menu.  Upon doing so, there will be a menu on the left with various sections, each covering a specific group of configuration options.

Quick Reply

Yeah, the "Quick Reply" box on the old forums was nice, but you might not see one here. Don't worry, the function still exists, you just have to turn it on.  Go to Profile -> Look and Layout Preferences.  You'll see a drop down menu next to the text "Use quick reply on topic display: ".  Set this to "Show, on by default", and all will be good.

Return to thread after post

You may notice that after making a post, you are returned to the topic (thread) list.  If you want to go back to the thread you just posted in, check the box next to Profile -> Look and Layout Preferences -> "Return to topics after posting by default.".

Avatar / Signature / Personal Text / etc

These can all be changed in Profile -> Forum Profile Information

For avatars, the maximum size is 100 pixels x 100 pixels.  You can enter a web address, upload your own, or select on of the preset pictures.  The presets under [Actors] and [Musicians] were provided when I set up this board, but there are also some custom images made by us, revolving around our bands and associates.

Private Message emails

Under Profile -> Personal Message Options, you can turn off the function that sends you an email whenever you get a private message, you know, in case that's not your thing.

Smileys

Besides the ones you see available, there are other, superior smileys that can be used.

To use the traditional "Smiley face continuously barfing other smiley faces", just enter:

and your barfing smiley face desires will be fulfilled.

With SMB, make sure you keep it updated. Our server had some troubles after some shady fellas managed to attack our server through SMB, wound up trashing the database.

Ok, so here's a question.  In the previous forums, you could easily scroll to the latest posts in a thread by seeing the "new post" bold text.  Either I'm blind and missing it, or the new forum doesn't have that functionality.  It was definitely helpful on topics that grew to be several pages long.

if you look under where it says "Last Post" for eachtopic it will says something like
"Last post Today at 09:22:38 AM by pnickers" with a hyperlink on the username.

The link on the username will take you to the user's profile, but the link to the far right of the box (it looks like a note with an arrow on it, that link will take you the last post.

Also on the thread title itself, if you click on the "NEW" button that will do the same thing

I think that's what the "NEW" button means

That will take you to the last post then you can... dah dah dah... scroll up (or down depending on your layout preferences)

I don't see the difference from the old forums...

You're right, it's not a big deal.  It was nice, however to just be able to find the next post by looking out for the "new post".  That stood out pretty well, instead of having to start reading people's posts to figure out where you left out. 

Again, just a thought.

If you click on the "new" next to to the thead instead of the thread name, it takes you to the unread (by you) posts.

Yeah the way they have it on ts.com (uses the SMF thing as well) the subjects that have had a reply since your account last viewed it would show up as bold.

Here we are just getting the "new" button, and this thread is showing up as bold all the time for whatever reason...

I don't like how the message board says, "Hello Nye" at the top, couldn't you change it so it says, "Fuck you Nye"?  that'd be much nicer.
