So, let's start off the new Penguins thread with some good news.

http://community.post-gazette.com/blogs/emptynetters/archive/2010/04/27/kunitz-day-to-day-malkin-s-parents-due-tomorrow-04-27-10.aspx

Vladimir and Natalia Malkin are due in town tomorrow.  Looks like Geno will be enjoying some good ol' home-cooked borscht (sp?) in the weeks to come.

Looks like NBC decided not to be douchebags.  (At least for this round...)

I imagine that we'll probably be watching the remainder of the playoff games with the douchebag commentators of VS. though.

We only played Halak in one of our four contests with Montreal this year.  I'll be curious to see how we face off against that defense.

Halak was great and their defense in general was amazing - so many blocked shots... And they proved that they won't just lie down against a 3-1 lead in the series. I'm glad the Caps are out, but the Canadiens will probably be more of a challenge than they look on paper.

This was just posted on the BBT's Facebook page.
I thought it was funny:

A guy walks into a bar and asks for an Ovechkin. The bartender asks, what's an Ovechkin? He says - it's a White Russian without a cup

Looks like NBC, (the network who thought Jay Leno @ 10pm was a good idea), has decided that they ARE going to be douchebags.

I really don't understand what the big deal is with this.  I mean people are still going to be watching their shitty broadcasts, just outside of the actual event.

They want those extra 500 connections so that their ratings numbers are higher.

They must've forgotten to factor in that at least two thirds of those people will watch the game at a bar if they can't watch it in front of the Igloo.

I got the radio show to do - so I'll be in studio.  Jwan and CO2 if you want to tune in.  Should be good.

for our entertainment, you should mix a delayed live radio broadcast of tonight's game with some beats!

Now that's some serious hate

I'll be at the Lines tonight if folks feel like hanging out and watching the potential retribution.

Well, you are an asshole.  I would like to watch the game somewhere, and it's a wing night.  Lines might be a good venue for the game unless other folks have any ideas.

I don't think I'll be making it out to the Lines tonight, so hopefully they win this one so there will be a next time this season to watch Pens playoff games at Sidelines

All told, I think the Pens had a good run this season.  Let's face it, we all knew this year wasn't as great as last year.  The power play sucked balls, Fleury was Capt Spaceout from time to time and the defense really didn't come together.  We got beat by a team playing better hockey than us at the right time.

Downsides:  Gonchar will be gone.  Guerin will most likely retire.  We gave up Caputi for Pony (who was disappointing).  Mellon Arena is done.

Upsides: Tangredi shows promise.  Gonchar and Guerin losses clear up $7M in cap room to fill the holes.  We still have Orpik, Staal, Fleury, Crosby, Malkin, Dupuis, and Tanger on the squad - that's a good core.  Consol Center looks like it'll be the shit.

Til next season, Go Pens.
