All told, I think the Pens had a good run this season. Let's face it, we all knew this year wasn't as great as last year. The power play sucked balls, Fleury was Capt Spaceout from time to time and the defense really didn't come together. We got beat by a team playing better hockey than us at the right time.
Downsides: Gonchar will be gone. Guerin will most likely retire. We gave up Caputi for Pony (who was disappointing). Mellon Arena is done.
Upsides: Tangredi shows promise. Gonchar and Guerin losses clear up $7M in cap room to fill the holes. We still have Orpik, Staal, Fleury, Crosby, Malkin, Dupuis, and Tanger on the squad - that's a good core. Consol Center looks like it'll be the shit.
Til next season, Go Pens.
Wonder if they'll hold on to Goligoski

http://www.postgazette.com/pg/10133/1057946-100.stmSeriously...? It was a big victory for them, but it was only round 2. We didn't even get THAT bad after the last Super Bowl victory. (I don't remember reading anything major after winning the cup last year either)

Speaking of which, I guess they are going with the "Dr. Pepper/Snapple" beverage company. Which, whatever, except their cola will be "RC Cola". Who drinks that? They may as well go with Liquid Z.. http://pittsburgh.bizjournals.com/pittsburgh/stories/2010/05/03/daily3.html

For whatever reason, I'm kinda glad they're not going with Coca-Cola or Pepsi.

RC cola is awesome! I didn't know they still made it. Plus A&W, Dr. Pepper and snapple are the bee's titties!

At the games I've gone to this year, they have Dr. Pepper, A&W, and 7-Up in the plastic bottles. I usually just get one of those, so I don't have to worry about a flat ass, ice filled fountain drink getting knocked over.

Last game I went to I bought a super expensive jumbo hotdog. As I was waiting the guy kept sticking out his hand for my money. Finally I asked him where the hotdog was and he pointed to a small foil package that I didn't even notice in front of me. Apparantly the Jumbo dog is just like a normal sized hotdog... not a foot long or nothing. WTF.

Last time I went to PNC Park, at one of the gates there was a "kids stand" called buccaroos, where they sell $1 hot dogs. They were about 3/4 the size of the jumbo hot dog, for 1/3 of the price.

I finally finished reading that. whew Hooray? I don't think I was mandating that folks had to read the whole thing; it was just a pretty good summary of why he thought we fell short this season. He really does his research, but I guess you have to if you are getting paid to blog.

A lot more specific than the people that call into that Fan morning show saying we "need tah get ridda Flower"

Definitely. There's a reason why a lot of folks who call into those shows aren't paid for their sports knowledge.

This is the wrong thread, but I feel that Chuck from Uniontown should be paid for his sports knowledge.

I'm sure everyone will agree that despite the pain of losing to them, we must all root for the Canadiens in the Eastern Conf. Finals...

Yeah, that sucks. But not as much as the flyers winning would suck.

Part of me wants Halak to really screw up so that I don't have to hear the announcers use the term "Halak-down" again
