I'm not saying he did anything right or wrong, but his actions as a public figure (of sorts) are bound to stir up controversy with an action like this. There are a lot of people who are going to take this, and have taken this, pretty seriously. It probably wasn't a good idea, but whatever.

Ok, so if you haven't heard, the NHL is planning to realign to four divisions and go back to how it was in the early 90's playoff-wise, where we would only meet Eastern opponents outside of our division in the eastern conference finals. Here's what the new alignment will probably look like.  Note that we are no longer in the same division as the Flyers, Rangers, Isles, and Devils, teams that we've been playing with (except for two years) since entering the league. Meetings with those teams would be limited to twice a year. It also breaks up one of the best rivalries in sports in the Flyers vs. Pens. And in a rare moment of cooperation, Pittsburgh and Philly are not happy about it. Four divisions only makes sense if they get 2 more teams to make all of the divisions even. 3 divisions of five teams makes much more sense.
That being said, I would have to know whether it was CBJ or DET that they were moving into this new division that we would be in to have a valid opinion on it.
