Given that where we are taping allows us to run a wire somewhere.  For the Rock Room, where we had the rig, it would have been ok, but if we were somewhere else, with people standing around, probably not so much.

Of course, instead of a battery, I could probably get a digital recorder, for not too much more (and not have to take the laptop to bars, n@).

Yeah it looks like the cheapest externals were $179 and the cheapest internal were $99 (but wouldn't you have to remove the current battery, therefore effectively turning the computer off?

With those prices, you are better off just buying a JB3 or an iriver or a MT 24/96 - http://www.m-audio.com/products/en_us/MicroTrackII-main.html (you can find these for around $200 on ts.com, JB3s and irivers are a little cheaper - even as low as $100)

Does the tascam run line-in? Optical?

that would be an issue, none of those small stand alone recorders have USB-"ins", they're mostly either optical or line-in

The Tascam US-122L has a line out, but is powered over UBS, so the issue remains.

I've asked the Mac people on TS.com about external battery recommendations, n@.

So, $200 for an external battery, or, $X for a recorder, $Y for a new A/D, and $Z for new mics (which would probably be done eventually anyway, though the crappy CM127s didn't too as bad as I thought they would).

Speaking of the YORSP recording... like a fool I forgot that I'm working this weekend... so Saturday's pretty much out for me.  Sunday I could do after 3pm or so.
Because of this I'm off on Friday, so I could do some shit on Friday night.. even if it just involves setup and the like.

We'd written down some of the shit we're planning to record... but I don't know if it was e-mails or in the fourms.

The 2 originals, obviously, and pretty much anything we think won't get us into some shit copyright-wise.
