$50 may be a little steep..... http://www.postgazette.com/pg/08136/882108-100.stmI'd like to see Dylan again... But I don't know about this setup. Traffic is already shitty on the South Side. I don't know about this 15 up-and-coming band thing either.

I like that they throw "and college bands" in there. Do they mean bands whose members are currently in college (and no doubt have been playing together for at most a year) or bands that go around touring colleges? Maybe you guys could all sign up for a class at CCAC and enter the competition.

The Raconteurs, Spoon and The Black Keys would be worth seeing. I'm probably going to go to this.

Yeah... well... I suppose that is an option. Though there aren't many options that close to that area. (Depending on just how big the crowd is)

You ever hear Black Mountain? I like them No, but NPR has one of their shows up. I'll give them a listen after lunch. http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=19086361From the description of Black Mountain (and knowing Bon Iver), this seems like it would have been an odd match.

Are they just going to fence off that plaza in front of the cheesecake factory or something? This just sounds weird. Seeing these bands in between all of the fancy pants stores and expensive ass restaurants.
I'm torn, though I'd like to see some of the acts, it just seems too weird.

I'd imagine that it would be in that greenspace between the stores and the river. They're building a hotel there though, so I'm not sure.

I don't suppose mentioning knowledge of prior defecation would entitle me to a discount off the $50 price. I wonder how vigilantly they check student I.D.'s for the "student discount" I still think I have the "Computer Tech" ID... it expired in 2002. (Though I was able to use it that last time I was in N.Y.C. 2 years ago for a discount.)

http://www.businesswire.com/portal/site/home/news/sections/?ndmViewId=news_view&newsLang=en&newsId=20080515005348 The college band performances will be judged by music industry influencers, journalists and fellow musicians. The winning college band will receive a full-day recording session in a top Los Angeles studio valued at $10,000. American Eagle will support the winning college band by promoting its recording on www.ae.com and in AE stores across the country. AEO has invited the following college bands to participate: Bears (Kent State University), Flying Machines (The New School), Gospel Gossip (Carleton College), Magic Bullets (College of San Mateo), Math the Band (University of Massachusetts Dartmouth), My Dear Disco (University of Michigan), Nothing Unexpected (Robert Morris University), The Black Fortys (University of Southern Illinois), The Company Kang (Whitman College), The Delicious (Indiana University), The Depreciation Guild (New York University), The Elizabethan Report (Brigham Young University), The French Horn Rebellion (Northwestern University), The Royal Bangs (University of Tennessee) and The Steps (University of Texas Austin).

Many bands have played in that tiny park right in front of the cheesecake factory, but that would be too small... so yeah probably behind the cheesecake factory I might go to this if I am back in Pgh by then

An RMU band huh? I guess they had to throw one hometown band in there. Maybe shithouse couls have gotten in, Damian was a student and Gregor works at a college.

Many bands have played in that tiny park right in front of the cheesecake factory Including Mr. Devious... but I doubt they'd be able to have it there. I have to disagree w/ Ponce regarding the location, however. If you can get re-admission after entering, you could always leave during a lame band and get some drinks at the BBT2. If the weather's good you could definitely park on the North Side and walk down the jail trail. Plus I could get Deena to buy our tickets and save $25.. I might be into this.

http://www.pittsburghlive.com/x/pittsburghtrib/s_567723.htmlThe concert will be held between Hot Metal and 26th streets in the town square area near the Cheesecake Factory. Two stages will be set up in the area. From the description in this article. It sounds like it will be in front of the cheescacke factory. I'm not too sure how that it going to work out, especially with 2 stages.

American Eagle probably doesn't know shit about planning a music festival... there's no way there's enough room for two stages there even if they shut down the streets. The sound from the two stages will be bleeding together like a hemophiliac and Grant at the Aquarium party two years ago...

Unless only one plays at a time (while the other one tears-down/sets-up) That's not a whole lot of room.... I could be wrong, but this just seems like bad logistics.
