Yeah... so DVE is playing a version (that I could have gone my entire life without knowing it existed and be happy about) of Metallica doing "Whiskey in the Jar"

It's fucking godawful.

Really?

I had never heard it (or even knew it existed) before this afternoon.

And now that I know... I don't think I can un-know.

Ever since Metallica went all apeshit over Naptser, they've been HOL'd.

Not to mention sucking after the black album, they were my favorite band when I was a kid

A true tragedy.

There is truly a gaping hole in the world of music today.

Shit, for that money I could form a nice lineup of Ben Folds, Girl Talk, Guster, DJ Shadow, Rusted Root and Das EFX.  I wonder if Sunshine Daydream is available...  Smiley

I don't think the problem is reserving the venue for such a show... I think it's the lack of $150k

But if you promoted it well enough I could maybe make enough to be able to afford a case of beer when it's done.  Isn't that what Lumberjam's profits were?

I know there was some bullshit they had to deal with concerning "off-limit" porta-shithouses.

Add another $10K and you get Tone Loc, too.  Honestly, I'm surprised to see how cheap a lot of these artists are playing for.

$10 might be steep for Tone Loc

We should raise 12k to get Ice T to come to the Aqua Bar and have a Law & Order SVU round table with Ponce.

Nope we actually ended up being in the hole $75 (This was found out after we spent the $140 what-we-thought-was-profit on wings and beer for the four of us that planned it and our two friends who helped out all weekend)

SSDD would be much too small for that kinda show, and from the looks of things - they're not doing much more than local barn dances there nowadays.

They initially were going to shut down entirely, then something happened, and I guess Trip sold the place to someone else.

Yeah, Sarah and I were looking at the shows that were on their calendar and it's pretty weak.  One Jerry Garcia celebration and the rest are mud bogs and the like.  Kinda sad, that place was nice.

Yeah and they're not even doing the Jerry Garcia thing there - they're doing it at Nelson's Ledges

I remember the hippie cook I used to work with talking about Nelson's Ledges.. it'd be great if there was a picture of Nelson on the sign at the entrance to that place pointing at you and saying "Ha ha- you're a hippie!"
