Yeah its looking like the easiest option would be to just camp somewhere, and those with pets are either gonna have to have one person stay home with them or board them.

Holy shit I think I know where that is, I stayed there before. http://www.whisperingoakscabins.com/Fuck That's some prime realestate, you could take down the other cabins and just have 1 with a kickass yard right in cooks forest. Shit I'm telling my dad and brother about this! It's also not far from the volwinkle...

You have a dog, what are you gonna do with him? Well it all depends on if we decide we want to go, which depends on if we can take Morgan to the show, or if we would even want to take him to the show. Then well, we probably don't have the spare $$$ to board Bo, so unless we went to a place where we could bring him and then leave him while we're at the show (although that's kind of a shady thing to do to your dog - "Hey dog, here's this strange house to stay in while we're out partying, have fun") If some of her friends are gonna be at Paddler's Lane in Confluence for the weekend to go kayaking, then we may just stay there (if they still have camping there at all) and then I would come out to the show by myself or something So, in short, I need to talk to Kat

Yeah, Titus is crate trained. So if I was going to bring him it would be in a cabin. He would then just chill out in his crate for a few hours. But it looks like if I go it will be solo.

You have a dog, what are you gonna do with him? I guess we're gonna try to go, and maybe try to stay at Paddler's Lane since 1) We know it 2) They are OK with dogs 3) It's $3 per person per day 4) They have a newly renovated bath-house with showers It's only 12 miles from Ohiopyle. As far as there being a rollercoaster of a hill on the way to Ohiopyle, that's more or less any road to or from anywhere in that area. I have stayed there numerous times and would recommend it. It's first come, first serve but Kat and I would drive up Thursday night and try to grab a decent spot.

I stayed there once and the trains were loud and kept waking me up and it was raining on me so I ended up sleeping in my car.

Yes the trains are kinda loud, though after a few beers are pretty easy to sleep through. It rained on you because you didn't bring a tent, and when you're in a place called "the outside" well, it occasionally rains.

From my research it looks like Scarlett Knob is $11 per person per night, Ohiopyle State Park info is here - http://www.dcnr.state.pa.us/stateparks/findinfo/prices_camp.aspx but its to decipher exactly what the price is unless you create an account and try to reserve a spot, and I emailed the folks at Paddler's Lane and they do still have camping there, waiting to hear back about the price (last time it was $3 per person per night). Were there any other camping ideas?

Update on Paddler's Lane - it is $6 per night. They explained the price raise, which IMHO is still pretty reasonable, by the fact that they recently redid the bath-house (we actually stopped by there to see friends of ours that were camping there on the way home from vacation - its pretty nice, no more iron-flavored water), and paved the road that leads up to it (it was ridiculous to drive on). They also confirmed that if we went down on Thursday evening, that we should be able to get a decent spot. So tentatively Kat and mine's plans are to head down Thursday after work and get a site (it's in a grass field between the bathhouse and the woods, see my lovely illustration attached), which will normally do for a about 5 or 6 tentfuls of people, and save as much space as people let us know about (put down tarps and whatnot). so if you're interested in doing this let me know http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=255+Paddlers+Ln,+Confluence,+PA+15424&sll=39.861905,-79.430675&sspn=0.092104,0.148659&ie=UTF8&z=16&iwloc=A

Anyone? I have no frame reference where paddler's lane is in to relation of the bike trail that we will be riding on. Does anyone else know?

I imagine it's on the other side (Fayette County) of the river from there, but the closest crossing is probably further upstream in Confluence.

Confluence isn't too far away from Ohiopyle. Driving, there are some serious hills, but the bike trail is flat and goes along the river.. about 10 miles from Ohiopyle. So that's another option for the biking, and probably better than pushing up 3 miles of hills to Scarlettt Knobbb.

See above post - Confluence, PA is about 10 miles along the same bike trail we would come into Ohiopyle on. The trail there is all flat as it goes right along the river.

Umm.. can't remember for sure. Maybe 6-7-8 hours? We stopped for lunch, etc. not to mention we were weighed down with camping shit cause we didn't have anyone to carry it and meet us there.

ok so.. 11 miles from Ohiopyle to Confluence on the trail, not 10. And it looks like about another 2 miles back down the other side of the river. Never stayed at Paddler's Lane but at $6 a night it is definitely cheaper than the state park (I want to say that was $30 for 2 nights.. could be more for the 4th weekend)

It's been a long time, but it seems like I left the South Side at like 7am and arrived in Ohiopile at 4 or so. But that was with trail bullshit between Pittsburgh and McKeesport and stopping to smell the flowers and watch the birds and fishes. How fast do you bike on flat ground?
